Our team sharing about Holy Spirit outside of our house in Maputo |
It has been a bit over a month since I arrived in Mozambique, and what a journey it has been! I first traveled from Kona to Iceland with a non-refundable ticket, then traveled from there to meet up with my team of 7 in Johannesburg, then bussed into Maputo the next day. It was a busy 4 days, but we finally made it!
I want to describe briefly what the Lord has been doing in the nation of Mozambique. There is something special about this place and the people. They are incredibly open to the Gospel and the Holy Spirit! Its like they are so hungry and don’t even know why. Sharing with people about the friendship of the Holy Spirit and freedom in Christ is the greatest news we can give and it is received that way.
In the middle of a poverty-stricken nation, the hope of Christ is like fresh water to a parched pallet. When my team and I get to go to the streets and evangelize through a translator, people become so curious. Even if they initially listen because we are foreign white people, they stay and listen because of the hope that spills from our hearts. We usually begin by describing the good news and about living a life that is submitted to the Lordship of Christ. After they receive Christ we are able to go directly into baptism of the Holy Spirit, unlocking the power of their identity in Christ.
One of my favorite stories that has come out of our ministry was actually during a day that our ministry fell through. Our team was in the compound of the church alone, waiting for a few hours! It seemed like a failure of a day, but after we had the opportunity to share our hearts with each other and encourage each other, our translator showed up and we walked around the city of Maputo. Children crowded around us, and we shared about how God can speak to them even when they are little. It was incredible, and after they overcame their shyness, they shared some of what Father God was speaking to them.

Sharing about hearing the voice of the LORD outside of the church |
Thank you for your prayers! Continue to pray for my team. We need grace to keep pouring out and seeking what the LORD would have for the last portion of outreach. Pray for protection of health in the team and for more opportunities to share the Gospel.
You have just encouraged me again with how Powerful and Gentle The Holy Spirit is. He is longing to encounter these beautiful people, no matter the age. And you are so confident in Him, that as you step out, He is free to show up in their lives! Ahhhh, so encouraging! Thank you and praying for more!
