Life in Mozambique

Our team sharing about Holy Spirit outside of our house in Maputo
It has been a bit over a month since I arrived in Mozambique, and what a journey it has been! I first traveled from Kona to Iceland with a non-refundable ticket, then traveled from there to meet up with my team of 7 in Johannesburg, then bussed into Maputo the next day. It was a busy 4 days, but we finally made it!

I want to describe briefly what the Lord has been doing in the nation of Mozambique. There is something special about this place and the people. They are incredibly open to the Gospel and the Holy Spirit! Its like they are so hungry and don’t even know why. Sharing with people about the friendship of the Holy Spirit and freedom in Christ is the greatest news we can give and it is received that way.

In the middle of a poverty-stricken nation, the hope of Christ is like fresh water to a parched pallet. When my team and I get to go to the streets and evangelize through a translator, people become so curious. Even if they initially listen because we are foreign white people, they stay and listen because of the hope that spills from our hearts. We usually begin by describing the good news and about living a life that is submitted to the Lordship of Christ. After they receive Christ we are able to go directly into baptism of the Holy Spirit, unlocking the power of their identity in Christ.

One of my favorite stories that has come out of our ministry was actually during a day that our ministry fell through. Our team was in the compound of the church alone, waiting for a few hours! It seemed like a failure of a day, but after we had the opportunity to share our hearts with each other and encourage each other, our translator showed up and we walked around the city of Maputo. Children crowded around us, and we shared about how God can speak to them even when they are little. It was incredible, and after they overcame their shyness, they shared some of what Father God was speaking to them.

Sharing about hearing the voice of the LORD outside of the church
Thank you for your prayers! Continue to pray for my team. We need grace to keep pouring out and seeking what the LORD would have for the last portion of outreach. Pray for protection of health in the team and for more opportunities to share the Gospel.

Blank Page

What do you do with nothing?
Start with blank, and begin.
The clock ticks, time is moving.
Measurable productivity is seen on the page.
Immeasurable productivity is only perceived inside.
Pictures, words, songs, play through the mind.
What to take, what to discard,
What is plagiarized? What is inspired? What is original?
What do you do with a lot of things?
Endless information.
What is information without ideas?
Memorization may only keep ideas at bay,
While study breeds belief.
Knowing and believing, How do I move from one to the other?
What is more valued? What is accepted and what is encouraged?
What do I live from? Revelation, or knowledge?
Is there a difference?
Blank page.
Scribbles and words. Am I close to what I wanted?
What have I set out to do? What have I discovered?
Inside, the images, ideas, melodies, are dancing.
All seem to articulate better behind the physical,
before the words seek to describe.
Words escape to paint pictures of color with shades of grey.
What do I believe? What do others believe I believe?
What does it matter?
What is more, to believe and change the heart,
or to know and give information?
Blank.
Static.
Full.
Change.
If my heart remains untouched, I don’t want it.
If it moves I desire that it moves greatly.
I will take mistakes over unwillingness to dirty the page.

Spring Summary!

Hello There!

It has been a very long time since I have written an update. I don't know where to start!

The Amsterdam outreach was the last thing I had written about and there has been so much that has happened since then! Currently, I am in Colorado, spending time with family and getting prepared for going back to Kona this summer to help with the AWAKEN DTS. I have about two weeks here, and then I plan on flying out early April to start a leadership track.

In January, I spent the month in Kansas City with about 12 staff from Kona.  While there, we learned from the pastor of the Boiler Room church, Adam Cox and his family, and were able to spend some time in the IHOP (International House of Prayer) prayer room. It was a time of growth and rest for most of the staff.

After that, I went home for about 10 days, then flew to Florida to meet Chase Cofer's family and get to know them. After that, we parted ways for about 2 and 1/2 weeks. He is in Nepal, and I am at home.

This is probably the most simple update yet, but I just wanted to give a quick summary of what life has looked like for me since DTS! I am thankful for time spent with friends and family, and I have enjoyed just being in the presence of the LORD. God has been so incredibly faithful in this season. Even with having a more slow-paced part of the year, it has been a season of growth and learning!

I am so looking forward to the DTS this summer! I will update again soon about the happenings in Kona.

Thank you for reading! Bless you!
